On the 19th and 20th of June, the Center for excessive gambling organized at the University of Lausanne its 2nd International Symposium dedicated to the prevention of excessive gambling. This symposium received the financial support of the Province de Liège (Belgium) and the Federal Office of Public Health (Switzerland). We were also endorsed and supported by the Inter-departmental Mission for the fight against drugs and drug addiction (France) and many other local and international partners working in the field of the addictions.
The symposium united 250 participants from 12 countries, and brought together principal professionals in the problem gambling domain (social and medical professionals, researchers, politicians, lawyers, and professionals from the gambling industry).
Thanks to its multidisciplinary stance, this symposium provided the opportunity to highlight, actual prevention strategies as well as potential future approaches. Other important topics were various promising perspectives in the treatment of excessive gambling. The Organizing Committee and the Scientific Council would like to thank all participants for their contribution to the symposium. We would also like to express our gratitude to everyone who authorized us to put their presentation online.

Prevention of Excessive Gambling in an Addictive Society ?

In a political environment of unprecedented economic growth of gambling offers in Europe you are invited to participate in a scientifi c conference dedicated to establish the signifi cance of a Public Health framework for behavioural dependencies.

We would like to address professionals working in the social and medical sector, in the fi eld of prevention and public health, researchers in these areas, and experts from the fi elds of Justice and Economy as well as interested professionals from other areas.

Working languages are French, English and German; a translation will be organized according to needs.
